  • What Smallville needs

Flight is the only power that fans seem to want (AS DO I). Well I want to see arctic version of super-breath, and telescopic vision. I also have to say I want to see the how Clark will go into his full secret identity or dual-identity. I mean everyone knows Clark without glasses. I need to see Perry White take over Daily Planet lets finish the Season 3 stuff. Push more Lois and Clark it is the heart of the Superman methology. Yes I belive if Smallville should end we should see Superman outfit even if it is at the Fortress of Solitude and Superman flying out. Also conclusion of Lex Luther not knowing Clark's secret where we can go fully into the Superman story. Yes, Smallville may have to end but why can't we get a full Superman show with the same cast and the quality of storys as Smallville has provided. I'm willing to spend another 10+ years for it lol.

  • FIRE THE WRITERS AND PUT SOME

    • From: thepianoman
    • Description:

I'm am terribly disappointed, even angry at how poor this 8th season has been. The Legion episode was fine, but this season was nearly doomed by the financial constraints that the CW put on the budget of Smallville--getting rid of the villain?  What were they thinking?  The replacement isn't even evil anymore!  Lex, whose bald head has made an appearance or two was a brilliantly written character--until this season.  I disagree with others--I LOVED Lana, and I DO understand that to allow the storyline to match the movie and comic books, Lana had to be removed but I don't have to like the way they did it.  Why did they bring her back this season?  I'll tell you why--they were dying in the ratings and needed to bring someone back that they could afford.  Are we going to see Lex again?  Who knows.  If everyone who used to watch the show sends a shiny quarter to be directed to the budget this season...maybe.  And what is up with the March 12th episode?  It was obvious to me (and I'm sure others) that they'd wipe away the episode with a time travel trip, but why the heck did they cut to the time travel scene, not allowing Lois to finish her sentence about who the new evil Kryptonian is?  Of course, it's so the writers can keep this nonsense going.  My wife and I will keep watching until the end of the season, but there's NO WAY we'll EVER buy this season on DVD.  Shame on the CW for cutting the budget, getting rid of main characters, getting cheap on the Visual Effects (have you noticed there's less this season than in the past?), and for not firing these crappy writers.

Doomsday, doomsday, again WTF could we finish the story line with Lex, [...] pay him the money he wants. And whats with the crapy storys this year, seriously I know that in the whole of all the viwers ten people are not that meny, but my smallville night will be off, and unless we see some vast imporvement we have all vowed to stop watching what is fast becoming a POS show, can we at least make the boy fly.

  • Tango Loislane

    • From: Lovingloislane
    • Description:

I am an avid Lois fan so naturally my preferences are all those instances where Lois is kicking butt, looking good and taking no prisoners.

Sometimes it seems as if Smallville wants to downplay the role Lois has in the Superman Mythos and substitute Lana.

I do not see this as a good thing and will be presenting  a spin on smallville that has Lois as the mainstay using her brains, beauty, and martial arts skills to get her story, several men  and a grammy. ( I have written a fanfic that has Lois going undercover as the lead singer of an alternative rock band named Valkyrie,  their debut cd wild hunt goes to the top of the charts and she wins a grammy and a pulitzer for her undercover work investigating a series of murders of alternative bands working ren fairs)

The emphasis on Lana as the impetus for Clark becoming the boy in blue  lacks a certain panache. She is whiny, ineffectual and lacks the strengths Lois demonstrates both in the comic and smallville continuums.

I propose a Lois, Lex, Clark Triangle ( my fanfic tango Loislane,  has lois doing the masochistic tango with lex, and then again with Oliver and then again with clark, it  seques into an entire series of , Loving Lois Lane stories, with Lex and Lois, Oliver and Lois, and Clark and Lois amongst others)

We need more Lois active and undercover, let's have her involved in stories that address the Hero in all of us ( fanfic where she rescues kids in Dafar from war camp, and breaks up a white slavery ring in Bosnia etc. ) and sings Heros ala Mariah Carey style on an outdoor stage in Metropolis to an audience of thousands, much to the chagrin and fascination of Lex Luthor.

Lois as a weapons master, swords, knives, and a crack shot,  as well as a talented singer, dancer and mistress of disguise.  I would love to have a scene where Lois and Tess Thai kickbox and Lois kicks Tess's butt.

Let's change Lanes and have Lois as the real reason  behind the man of steel and get off this current track of Lana as the end all and be all reason for the superman saga.

I think that the production company is afraid to go all out on Lois's character, they don't want to make her too hot, too sexy, or too savvy. I say bring on the Lane, have her dating the head crime lord of the city (and his son)  make her the girl all the bad boys, and not just a few of the good guys want.  Let Lois be the object of Tess's angst, Lex's lust,  and Oliver's fantasy (No Ollie I don't look back, or do return engagements when it comes to relationships). Let Lois embody the line from working girl " I have a brain built for business (journalism) and a body built for sex."  Bring on the Lane!

  • Smallville Season 7 DVD Review

    • From: vantheman77
    • Description:

The 7th season DVD is a very nice package that has both Clark and Kara on the cover. However, it would have been nice if Lex was also on the cover since it was his last season.

The season is shown widescreen and the picture is clear and crisp. The sound has the 5.1 surround sound just like the other DVD sets.

This set has the most amount of deleted scenes than any other season set ever. I just wished that they put these deleted scenes so that the episodes feel complete and with more weight to them. Among them are how Clark got frozen, Lana and Chloe's reunion, how Lex got his flight cleared up, etc.

While the 6th season set didn't have any audio commentary, they brought it back in this set on episodes Persona and Siren. I just wish there were more audio commentaries on key episodes like Bizarro, Descent, and Apocalypse.

The special features include the Supergirl featurette, the Jimmy Olsen actors sitting in a room discussing the role of Jimmy Olsen, the Kara Chronicles, and the Smallville: Visions comic that took place during the episode Hero.

This was a much better season set with episodes to choose and watch from. A high recommender.

  • season 4 questions

    • From: hornet58
    • Description:

I was watching the four season of smallville the other day (my favorite season) and I realized something, there are a lot of plots with holes in them that don't have a answer for them. I mean there are some holes that can use some answers, like....

      1) first and for most, what happened to Lana during the 12 hours she doesn't remember? They talk about finding out but it never goes anywhere from there...

      2) Who stabbed Lionel in the shower at the prison or who ordered for Lionel to be stabbed? I thought it might be Lex, but it seems more likely like Lionel did, but who knows...

3)What ever happened to Chloe's Dad? He went into the house before it exploded, got safed, but you never hear from him again...ever...

4)How can Lana afford a 400 year old book? She might have a huge credit card limit but that book is older than the Constituition. Speaking of the book...

      5) In Spell, Isobel said she couldn't do magic without her book, but she still was able to do it in Sacred even after clark destroyed it. How is that possible?....

      6) Also, How was Isobel able to get the element from under the tree, even though she's not Kryptonian?....

      7) What ever happened to Mikail Mxyzptlk after Lex showed him 33.1? We don't hear about 33.1 until the six season. Even then he's not there...

      8) Finally, How broke into Lana's apartment when her and Jason went for a run? It wasn't Lionel, Lex, Jason, or Clark. We know Lana likely faked it to throw off Jason, but who did she get to do it

  • Thoughts on Seasons 8 and 7

    • From: KevvEL
    • Description:

Well, it has been a while since I posted, but after watching most of last season in rerun form and hearing about the rumors/spoilers from comic con, I thought I would offer my two cents.

      *Rumor/Spoiler Discussion begins here*

First off, i try not to read a lot of spoiler/rumor discussion because i like to be surprised, but from time to time i do come across a news item and go "hmm, that's kinda interesting." Anyhow, the more i read about Doomsday as a new "heavy," the more i'm kind of interested in seeing how the show is going to turn a soulless rampager into a human villain. Again, while i see this as interesting, Doomsday as a character was created solely to kill Clark. In the comics, Clark/Superman was able to recover due to the sun, but still, this Doomsday has to nearly kill Clark or else they should have found another character. Also, Smallville needs to keep reaching into the Superman comics and find more lesser-known villains like Rudy or Metallo so that it can keep things fresh with Lex gone.

According to some things i've read, it looks like the legion is going to make a guest appearance and this is awesome. Like I said in an earlier blog post wishing that the legion would appear, the legion helps tie Smallville back to some of the cooler parts of the comics.

As far as Kara's departure goes, i do think the Supergirl arc has run its course. It will be cool to see her in a couple of episodes but i think its time for her to be out on her own.

Lastly, i keep hearing about a resurfacing of the "letter" with Chole's feelings for Clark and while it would be awesome for those two to really talk about their feelings, i think it would have been better to see it resurface in season 5 or 6.

      *Rumor/Spoiler Discussion ends here*

I also had some thoughts on last season after watching most of it again over the summer. I think it was good at the beginning, and i even kinda enjoyed Lana's start at being bad but somewhere after the Grant Gabriel arc ended, things went downhill. i DID NOT like the idea of an orb that controls Clark....why not just a map to the fortress, it would have served the exact same purpose.

Now just for some random thoughts, I was thinking today that we could see Chloe as Lana/Lois hybrid as far as her character goes and that's kind of a cool, and i think that means the show could have done without lana or lois (again, i see Smallville as an alternate/Elsewords type tale and as such, Clark doesn't even have to become Superman, just all of the core elements of the mythology have to be there). That being said, i'm really starting to like the direction lois is taking, but i still wish Clark could have ended up with Chloe.

Also, i saw a thread on the message boards and i wanted to say that as a whole, Superman movies are better than Batman movies (although Mask of the Phantasm was perfect and the best Batman movie). Dark Knight was good, but on the whole, you have to give it to the Superman franchise.

Thats all for now, time to take a nap!!

  • The Season 7 (May 15, 2008) Fi

    • From: KevvEL
    • Description:

Well, it looks like this season has come to a close. Overall I enjoyed it, and for the most part i liked the finale. I am going to wonder what happens next, with Kara in the phantom zone as well as Lex and Clark being stranded in (what's left of) the fortress. I still don't like the idea that Lex had a magic sphere that could control Clark, but hopefully there is a way to get past that in the season premiere.

The main thing i thought about after this finale is that Smallville is really at a crossroads for the characters. I would like to see Clark begin life in Metropolis and work closer with Green Arrow, but it seems like the show is a little stuck in how to get Clark to transition to the next stage in his life. In fact, i thought a lot of this season involved Clark being stuck in a transition (one foot in Metropolis and one foot in Smallville). I think the show is doing a great job of reinterpreting the Superman story but I think it's time for Clark to join up with Jimmy, Chloe, and Lois to complete that full transition to Metropolis and start having Clark take on the Superman persona.

That being said, I wanted to talk about some of the parts of the episode i really liked. The first thing that really surprised me was that Jimmy proposed to Chloe! Then, the domestic security guys stormed in (although it was kinda funny that she told Jimmy to get Clark, but I think Jimmy will figure it all out eventually) and we will have to see what happens.

I liked seeing Lois comfort Clark (and the idea of Clark working at the paper) and I think it is time for Clark to move on from Lana, she seems like such a different character this season.

Also, it was pretty intense to see Lex and Clark and the fortress, and I wonder if the purple sphere is going to take Clark's powers away (in homage to how the fortress works in Superman II) or how they are going to survive the collapse.

Lastly, i wonder if Brainiac is really gone for good, especially since he feeds on power and could have made "back up" copies of himself. Also, speaking of space-type villains I wonder if we are going to see Darkseid anytime soon. Hmm, or it would be cool to get a visit from the Legion of Superheroes now that Smallville has introduced space/time travel.

Anyhow, that is all for now; it is time to find some food (and get back to studying haha)!!
