Laters!
I enjoyed blogging about last week's episode so I thought I'd share my thoughts on this week's episode too. Plus, it gives me a chance to avoid my grad student responsibilities haha.
What I liked about the episode was the attention to some of the Superman iconography that's sometimes missing from Smallville. For instance, Jimmy had his trademark bowtie and Clark had a pair of glasses for a clever disguise. As a long-time fan of the comics and movies (and the Superman mythology/symbolism), I thought that was neat; it shows that Superman can be interpreted in a lot of different ways. Also, since I have not been following the show from the beginning (I've been watching the dvds) I think its neat that the show has terence stamp play jor-el (the polar opposite of zod in the films!!) and that the music in season 2 had elements of the john williams Superman theme.
Also, I thought it was interesting in this parallel universe that Kara stood by Lex nearly to the end, but Lex still used Kara for his own gain. This is what could have happened to Clark had their friendship continued or if Clark wasn't lucky enough to have the parents he had.
The Barn scene at the end of the episode also stood out to me in that while Lex and Clark don't really speak to each other (and Lex destroyed his good side!), they still find it acceptable to wander in to confront each other. (I did kinda think, "when will they stop breaking into each other's place?!?! or change the locks??")
Plus, building on the Superman mythology, Clark and Lois got a beer at the end of the episode, and when I thought about it, I like best Chloe, but I'll take Lois over Lana.
Anyhow, Tom Welling did a great job with the directing (i think i saw his name on the credits??); the scene at the end where Kara falls over was pretty suspenseful (I'm wondering what's going to happen....is she a host for brainiac as he was grinning like crazy (plus, we didnt see her kill him/it!!!))
I guess now I'm back to watching my dvds, and who knows, maybe i'll study tonight?
i'm really a big fan of smallville... but as time passes by i've realize that from seasons 1-7... i don't really know what's lana up to. for a second his up to clark kent... then after a while she's not. same thing with clark but we've all know that clark has his own reason. i mean they're so cute together. but my reason why sometimes i don't like lana?... it's because if she knew that clark is not honest with her... she begin blah-blah-blahbing... without listening and understanding clark (we all know that clark can't elaborate everything to lana because the way lana's been acting and the way she starred clark and she can't keep secrets and clark is afraid that lana can't accept him coz he is the reason behind why lana's parents died)... and here's one thing too... since season 1 til 7 lana's been lip locking with many other boys... as if she's so demure, cutie or an angel... but inside she's a... [...] girl but in her own different way. but here's clark come to the rescue... eventhough lana has so many boys in her life... clark is still madly inlove with lana. (love really matters). but i was wondering... why can't clark love chloe? i mean his comfortable wiht her and she know all of his secrets... right? but yuh we all know that thats not gonna happen. because in the real superman story even lana is not the soulmate for clark... it's lois lane... right? yuh at first they're some kinda... goofy... they've always argue on something and pretend they don't like each other... and so on and so forth... but when you define love... LOVE is a crazy word... but honestly... if they realize that they have something in common and they'll be able to see and develop each others feelings.... then that what's really love is! not just a fling thing... it's called TRUE LOVE... wink!
Smallville episode - Veritas
This episode was soo exciting!! Part of Lionel's past was revealed, wher ehe took part in a secret group called Veritas, whose mission was to solce the mystery of the Traveler and to welcome him to earth. This group included Lionel, the Queens, and other inluential people, and it was founded by Virgil Swann (Christopher Reeves)!!!!
Brainiac reappeared, where he interupted Clark and Kara's "flying lessong 101", and she was forced to go with him, or else...HE WOULD KILL LANA! Lana is already in a coma, and being controlled by Brainiac, and it's really sad at the end of this episode, because Clark was there, and he was crying and everything....
Next episode is going to be absolutely crazy (in an awesome way). It is called "Descent", where Lex finally becomes the villain we all know from the Superman movies! Comes out April 17th, I can't wait! ^_^
Okay, am I the only one here who is going absolutely crazy by Smallville?
I hope someone in a power of position comes across this because, oh my God, I'm going to dismantle my television.
First of all, what is up with Lana?!?!?
I've pretty much caught onto the fact that the writers determine whether I love or hate a character by the way they deliver them, and right now, I'm pretty much despising Lana, but usually the main character (a.k.a. Clark)agrees with me.
Don't get me wrong, I know the whole "We have to follow the history of Superman, and in the history of Superman it was 100% Lana and Clark mushy gushy blah blah blah", but c'monnn.
They've had their overpowering the show relationship haven't they???
Or can't they take a break from each otherthat last more than two episodes?
NowSeason 5 and the end of Season 4was really great, but putting Lana and Clark together in season 7 was way too easy. Give them some single time or something.
That was a great period to experiment with, oh, I don't know, Supergirl, or how about Chloe's new power?
Okay, okay, I'm exagerrating some, but to justgetClark and Lanatogether and have Lana just recede into the background doing these truly non-early seasons-Lana type things and have Clark so completely oblivious (which would have been okay ifthey'd gone further on the whole Chloe defending him-seeing the real Lana thing, but from the looks of thecommercial for Traveler, looks like they're getting along, huh?) is just confusing me.
The way I see it, the writers of Smallville are doing a great job by getting me so confused and angry at the show. A show that you're not interested in and has no effect on your emotions probably isn't a show worth going back to.
However, I'm afraid that if this annoying Lana thing goes on too much longer, Smallville will lose a load of less loyal fans.
And don't expect me to content with the Jimmy & Chloe relationship!!!
After years of teasing me with Chloe & Clark, am I supposed to be happy with Chloe and hernewfound beau?
Seriously, after the Season 5 finale Clark & Chloe kiss then immediately putting Chloe and Jimmy together, how could you be so cruel?
It's kind of late now for getting them together, because I'm guessing that Season 8 will be the last season since you can't keep Tom Welling out of those tights much longer, and the show needs to be primarily the Lana and Clark relationship, but seriously now, what was the point of the cruel and unusual punishment of the Season 4 kiss?
And as for the inevitable Clark & Lois relationship that, I don't know about you, but I am just waiting hopelessly for...I'm waiting hopelessly for it.
I would change Superman history if I could just to see the Lois and Clark characters of Smallville get together, since there's not really any characters who have the sort of relationship they do(on screen, not including comics). Lois & Clark, the TV show, got close, but they got them in a relationship so fast (but it makes sense, since that's what the show was made to revolve around) that we didn't have the TV show "zest"very much. I'd like to see the last or last couple of episodes of the show pretty much have the relationship, mostly for satisfaction from the audience. Let's have them get together at the next to the last episode of Smallville, and then by the end of the last episode of Smallville, he puts on the cape. Doesn't that sound perfect?
And don't give me that whole "they don't get together 'til they work together at the Daily Planet". Have Clark start working there at the third to the last episode of Smallville.
Seriously though, Smallville's changed enough of Superman history that a little chronological out of order won't be too much of a hassle, right?
Oh, and, hahaha, what the crap was with the product placement in Hero?!?!?
A 4 year old could have pointed it out!!!
Not even letting it recede into the background, but putting it into the scripts also?
I'm wondering how much Stride paid...
I'm not so sure yet on the whole Kara moving in with Lex ordeal.
More of me isleaning towards itbeing disastorous for the show since it's so near the Lana and Lex situation, but I'm going to trust the writers with taking it in a different direction.
Alright.
Feels good to let it all out.
Feel free to let me know what you think.
