  • Glad for the Proper Closure

    • From: lizamo92673
    • Description:

I am so glad to see Lana return and to discover that the writers went back to resolve the lack of closure I felt as a viewer when Lana left.  I think her "video goodbye" after being rid of Brainiac did not do justice to Clark, nor did it seem like a solid choice for conflict resolution.  Simply put, it was "played."

I have never been a fan of the fated Clark-Lois get together.  In my personal opinion, Durance's interpretation of Lois makes her too much of an aggressive, sarcastic, semi-promiscuous woman for me to like her being paired with Clark.  I like the Lois character; she's a fiesty female and I support that, but I don't want that type of woman to be Clark's woman.  Sorry, but he will forever be my "sweetheart" guy, and I have always wanted a "sweetheart" girl for him.

Needless to say, I was thrilled to see Lana resurface and that in the last 2 episodes, she and Clark have been allowed to achieve the necessary closure in their relationship.  I feel that their fated separation is more palatable for me since I feel that their emotions are still present, and each is sacrificing for the greater good.  I didn't want them parting with hurt and loss, confusion and regret, and unanswered questions for me.  Now, I feel that Clark and Lana are finally on the same page with each other.  They get it.  The unity they always wanted is present, and the beautiful irony of the fact that they gain unity which only results in their separation is a sign of good writing!  I will be sad to see Kristin Kruek (or rather to not see her) leave the show forever.  She is a good actress, a beautiful young woman, and I like what she did with Lana Lang.  She made me like her.

Those are my humble opinions.  Thanks for taking the time to read them!  I bought the Jan-Feb magazine in BORDER'S the other day.  Looking forward to reading it.

      Liz

A rather daring image of Tom Welling, completely shirtless. Posing for a french magazine back in 2004 (I may be wrong there). A rather rare image to find anymore, so enjoy it to the max. :)

  • The Angel

    • Description:

In April of 2008, I was at an emotional low and had told God to either give me a reason to exist, or for Him to take me out of this world.

It was during this time that I bought a copy of Wizard magazine, and became aware of Laura Vandervoort. In it was a picture of Laura riding a mechanical bull, in addition to the main pictorial of TV's Hottest Women, which included Laura in her first Supergirl costume.

Subsequently, I received a copy of SciFi magazine with Laura in a prayerful pose on its cover, and the same Supergirl photo that appeared in Wizard magazine.

I then had to know more about this angelic woman, and browsed the internet. Eventually I found a photo of a sweetly smiling Laura with her boyfriend Corey Sevier and two other women. In the photo Laura appears to be holding a glass of iced tea with a lemon slice.

God does answer prayers and will do so in unexpected ways:

      * He used the photo of Laura on the mechanical bull to inspire me to switch to Country music, which is gentler and more spiritually positive than Rock.

      * He used the cover photo of Laura's prayerful pose to inspire me to talk to Him more.

      * He then used a combination of Laura's photo holding a glass of iced tea, and a Country song, to inspire me to drink more tea and a little less beer.

Personally, I don't know how any of this is going to turn out. But one thing is certain: God is making me more acceptable to Himself, and I suppose that is all that matters, because the highway to Heaven is not an easy road to travel.

THE DARK KNIGHT, INCREDIBLE HULK, HEROES: OCTOBER 15TH COMIC REEL WRAP

      THE DARK KNIGHT
There's a spoiler-esque report in the London Paper about an explosion on the London set of the Bat sequel.

      INCREDIBLE HULK

Actor Tim Roth talked to Rotten Tomatoes and promised a "fun" gamma powered blockbuster. "We've done some very cool things," said Roth. "I think it's going to be fun. I'm in my own world with this one so there's a lot of it I don't see what's going on. All I know is, as far as I'm concerned, this is some fun stuff going on." Roth is privy to the transformation effects, but cannot share the details. "I'm still filming it. This is one for my boys. Pure, on set, all I'm asking is, 'Okay, this has got to be a cool shot for my kids, all right? Am I going to look cool in this shot?' It's truly about that for me, completely about that."

Superhero Hype also has a new set photo taking in all the destruction.

      HEROES

CBR News has video previews from tonight's episode, "The Kindness of Strangers."

      JUSTICE LEAGUE

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Director George Miller flew in Saturday from his native Australia for a marathon casting session that started Sunday and continues Monday, seeing 35-40 actors test for roles in the comic book movie. Miller is seeing about four or five actors for the parts of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter, with a few overlaps. A few nonhero parts might be testing as well. On the roll call are Adam Brody (Fox's 'The O.C.'), Joseph Cross ('Running With Scissors'), D.J. Cotrona ('Windfall'), Mary Elizabeth Winstead ('Grindhouse'), Michael Angarano ('Sky High'), Teresa Palmer ('Wolf Creek'), Max Thieriot ('Jumper') and rapper Common. The cast of NBC's 'Friday Night Lights' is well-represented as well, with Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter also among those testing for parts. No costumes are involved in the tests, which are being taped as actors read script pages."

Meanwhile, Obsessed With Film noted that director of photography Dean Semler has joined the crew, as has P.J. Voeten as assistant director and that WETA will be creating the costumes.

      30 DAYS OF NIGHT

Shock Til You Drop has an interview with director David Slade about bringing terror to your territory. "I made sure that we were R-rated and had it actually stipulated in my contract when we went in to make the film because there was no way this film could exist as a PG-13," Slade said. "It's easy enough to say that, but I don't want to be stuck within the horror movie that is trying to make this film PG-13 ... The way we approached the film, which was great, was that they really left us alone when we were shooting the film. If it was a PG-13 film I would imagine there would have been more hands on. There was a great amount of trust. God knows where it came from [chuckles] but we went out and we shot the film ... We were worried about a lot of things, but the MPAA gave us an R-rating on the first pass. We didn't have to change a thing."

      WATCHMEN

The Kansas City Star reports that the Zack Snyder-helmed production will feature four sculptures from KC-area artists that will decorate the home of Dr. Manhattan, played by Billy Crudup.

      SMALLVILLE

Kryptonsite has two new image galleries for the October 25th episode "Action" and the November 8th show, "Wrath" as well. They also have an excerpt from a Smallville Magazine interview with actress Erica Durance.

      TRANSFORMERS 2

Superhero Hype has a quote from voice actor Peter Cullen, who said, "I've been led to believe that there is going to be two more that I know of." He's also the subject of a lengthier interview at their site, saying he's not sure when the next movie would start due to Hollywood politics. "No, I have no idea," Cullen said. "I hope the writer's strike doesn't affect the ongoing plans. It affects everyone."

      WONDER WOMAN

There's a war of words going on in the press. Journalist Nikki Finke rocked the Tinseltown boat with a column alleging sexism at Warner Brothers, which prompted studio honcho Jeff Robinov to respond in full in Variety. This week Finke is back with more anonymously-credited support for her idea that Themiscira's Finest will never hit the silver screen solo. "[Robinov has] nixed 'Wonder Woman' as a stand-alone film, downgrading her to just one of four superhero characters in the proposed Justice League pic, and ... Robinov will only make Wonder Woman as a spin-off of' Justice League,' about four superheroes including Wonder Woman. But his proviso is that 'JL' (no doubt its proper name Justice League Of America would be too jingoistic for the foreign market) would have to do really, really boffo to justify having a female star-driven pic. Again, I stand by my story."

      SADISTIK

Go Sadistik is reporting that "Diabolikal Super-Kriminal," a documentary about the European 'dark comics' of the 1960s and in particular the property called "Killing" internationally will premiere in Italy this month, heading out in other languages and markets soon after, with a possible ramp up for a live action film.

      LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION

We have to stop and say a special happy birthday to Myshell Curry because we can.

Back to business -- we can't do this without you. The rumors, the scoops, the set photos -- they're all fueled by passionate fans emailing in the goods. The ones who ask, "What do you mean your sister's dating somebody who works for Miles Millar?" The ones who know the code names of movie projects and scour city permit filings for them. The devoted, the involved. Fans, just like you. Whatever you know, we wanna know, and whether you want your name shouted to the web's rafters or kept closer than a classified report, we've got you covered like a comforter. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is your humble scribe Hannibal Tabu saying thank you for your time and indulgence, and "enough talk -- let's go make with the 'biff' and the 'pow' already."
